Took 5:30 am bus from Madison to Chicago O’Hare. Flew from Chicago to Bangkok with a stop in Korea. Total travel time was about 26 hours. Took Airport Link Skytrain from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Ratchaprarop stop. Walked to Le Tada Parkview.

Day 3 – 14th

Toured Bangkok. Walked from hotel to Chao Phraya River. Took a river taxi to Wat Arun and then to Wat Pho to check out Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Attempted to go north and visit the Grand Palace but the entire area was closed for an event. Struggled to find a bus. Ended up paying 500 baht for a tuk-tuk (way too much) back to our hotel.

Day 4 – 15th

Took skytrain up to Wachirabenchatat Park. Walked around park and then visited the Chatuchak Market. Took cab to Don Mueang airport. Very easy and cheap. There will soon be a Skytrain line up to that air. Flew to Phuket. Tried and get shuttle to Patong beach. Very annoying. Driver would not leave until shuttle was full. Wait nearly an hour before just getting refund and taking a taxi. Cost about 20 USD. Checked at Rayaan Beach Paradise. Ate at the restaurant at our hotel and went to sleep.

Day 5 – 16th

Checked out Patong beach. Walked around busy streets. Soaked in the sun and swam in the ocean. Hiked south east of Patong. Checked out Malin Plaze on the west side of town. Hung out on beach. Worked for a few hours and drank mojitos at Lai Mai next to our hotel.

Day 6 – 17th

Hiked up mountain north of Phuket. 4 KM hike. Very steep. Decent view of ocean. Didn’t really end up anywhere but the journey was worth it.

Once at Paradise Beach we were shuttled down to the resort. No liquids allowed in. Drinks and food were expensive but they have live music at night. Explored Paradise Beach. Walked back to Tri Trang beach and drank gin and tonics at the resort for very cheap.
